Clouds
by Ori C. Li
// like thick rolled steam // computer white on sky white // earthly greens on jacket green // it
might rain today // the underside is shaded with bumps of gray // as gray as the sea // the sun
reduced to a haze
// I woke up in a lazy daze // I know not to drink coffee right away
so as to rise slowly to the sound of our heartbeats //
I remember when it rained so hard the window wipers would tire as we would //
// I was driving along the shoreline // I didn’t know where we were going // I guess it didn’t matter // I trusted you // we trusted each other // it was okay to drive and make turns // we turned and turned round and round // up and down with the road // carved into the side of volcanic rock //
a thing to be sure of //
// after all you said:
Trust your intuition
// even if you can’t see the sun
even when I’m not there anymore//
